Alivacha Ladoo by Swati (Sita Priti) Mataji

Garden cress /common cress ladoos.

Aliv as know in marathi has lot health benefit. Usually recommended after delivery, backaches.

Here have made it by adding soaked methi dana in it.

The color of the ladoo depends on what jaggery used.

I have used brown sugar here. Last time made with jaggery so this time wanted to try brown sugar.

Take one 1/2 cup of Aliv soak it in coconut water. (I specifically break coconut for this as the coconut is also needed later).

Soak in 1 cup coconut water (if you don't have use milk or plain water.)

Usually 2 to 3 hours soaking is sufficient. The seeds swell up.

Here have soaked methi dana as well.

When ready to make have the fresh coconut desiccated ready. I usually just remove the black part and run it in the mixer with some regular milk. When you add coconut and milk to the mixer add cardamom and nutmeg ad well.

In a pan add the coconut milk mixture add the Aliv soaked seeds to it add methi dana (taken 2 tbsp before soaking ).

Add nuts of your choice and mix well. So now you have milk, coconut, aliv seeds, methi seeds, dry fruits to it add 1/2 cup jaggery or brown sugar. If you want to keep less sweet add less.

Mix on medium heat.

The mixture starts getting reduced and getting dry. Add one spoon ghee/clarified butter.

Switch off gas and once cooled make ladoos.

Nice soft ladoos ready.

Remember to keep them in freeze and consume within a week.

As we use milk, coconut water so make quantity which can be consumed in a week.
