Brownie

Preheat oven to (175 degrees C). In a heavy saucepan combine the 1/3 cup of flour and water. Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until thick. Transfer to a mixing bowl and set aside to cool.

In a small saucepan, melt butter. When the butter has melted, add the cocoa powder and mix until smooth; set aside to cool. Put the cocoa powder mixture, sugar, and vanilla extract into the cooled flour mixture. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, stir into the batter until just blended. Fold in walnuts if desired. Spread evenly in the prepared pan.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted into the center, comes out clean. Cool before cutting into the desired shape.
