Tomato & Amla Rasam



In a pan roast the following: 2 tsp Dhaniya seeds, 1 tsp channa dal, 1 tsp Toor dal, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp jeera,  2 red chillies, 1 inch or more of fresh ginger, a few curry leaves, few leaves of pudhina, few leaves of coriander, I small tomato chopped, and amla (if you have a few pieces), and tamarind( marble size). Once the dals are golden grind this into a smooth paste with little water. In a vessel bring to boil some water., add this paste and let it boil for a few mins. Add salt turmeric Hing. Add more water to bring it to rasam consistency. Add some curry leaves. Give Tadka in ghee with mustard seeds ( jeera optional). An optional step is to add 2-4 tsp cooked Toor dal if kids are eating. Check for salt again. You will find instant relief from all cold symptoms
